  • Established a Nutrition and Physical Activity Task Force, focusing on health and diet for kids in elementary, middle and high schools throughout SC
  • Established guidelines for the funding for 21st Century After School sites in SC school districts
  • Established formal partnerships between adult education programs and two-year technical colleges in SC for dual credit and dual degree programs
  • Provided Leadership to administer 750 million dollars in school building funds, the largest in SC in more than 40 years
  • Worked directly with law enforcement agencies to significantly increase funding for School Resource Officers (SRO) in every SC school district
  • Worked to increase funding for more school nurses and guidance counselors in all SC school districts
  • Worked to increase Early Childhood full-day program funding
  • Worked to pass the Education And Economic Development Act (EEDA) serving over 200,000 students in Career & Technology programs in SC
